Sandra Bullock Steals the Show at MTV Movie Awards

Sandra Bullock, Tom Cruise Make Memorable Appearances at MTV Awards; 'Twilight' Takes Trophies

Bullock made her first live TV appearance since splitting with her philandering husband, Jesse James, at MTV's Movie Awards Sunday night. The 45-year-old actress accepted the MTV Generation Award for her career achievements. On stage, she rebutted the tabloid rumors about her life.

"No. 1: I'm not dead," she said. "No. 2, everybody has cellulite, not just me. Paparazzi need more flattering lenses."

Bullock then turned to the presenters of the Generation Award: Betty White, her co-star in "The Proposal," Bradley Cooper , her co-star in "All About Steve," and Scarlett Johansson, her co-star in ... nothing. When Bullock asked why Johansson was there, Johansson hinted that after watching Bullock kiss her husband, Ryan Reynolds, in "The Proposal," she was curious about the actress' talents.

Bullock took the bait and gave Johansson an awkward kiss on the mouth.

"Now that we have done that," Bullock announced afterwards, "can we please go back to normal?"

As for who took home the coveted golden popcorns: "Twilight: New Moon" and its stars took home a slew of awards, including best kiss (Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson) and best movie.

For three straight years, MTV Movie Awards Executive Producer Mark Burnett has run a super-tight live show that has managed to create a slew of enduring pop culture memories. Remember Br�no's butt and Eminem's head? Will Ferrell and Sacha Baron Cohen sharing a sloppy on-stage smooch?

So what does Burnett have in store for his fourth go-round at the Movie Awards? Like he'd tell us! But he did sit down with MTV News to toss us many a tease about what fans can expect tomorrow night. One of the most anticipated moments of the evening will undoubtedly be when the spotlight shines on Sandra Bullock as this year's MTV Generation Award honoree.

"Sandra Bullock is so deserving," Burnett said. "It's going to be a beautiful moment. The package of her work that you'll see on the screen just brings a tear to your eye. She's also very funny. There's some funny stuff around the Generation Award."

Bullock and the rest of the celebs at the Gibson Amphitheatre will be doing their wacky best in front of a massive stage set up -- hundreds of feet of TV screens and the ability to sate your pop culture thirst in 3-D. It should be quite a spectacle -- one that starts building during the pre-show.

Pic tells story of rebellious friends in search of the perfect party

Renee Zellweger is ready to party with "Pillage," having acquired feature rights to former New York City nightlife impresario Brantly Martin's novel of the same name.

Zellweger will produce "Pillage" with PalmStar Entertainment's Kevin Frakes. John Krokidas ("Slo-Mo"), who penned the screenplay, will direct; shooting is scheduled to start during the first half of next year in New York City.

Newly minted PalmStar Media Capital will finance and handle worldwide sales.

"Pillage" centers on four best friends living in Manhattan who rebel against their dead-end lives by searching for the perfect party in the downtown nightlife scene.

Frakes established PalmStar Media Capital earlier this year -- with PalmStar Entertainment, Peggy Taylor and Frank Pollifrone -- to finance gap and equity investments in features.

PalmStar's roster of projects includes "Lunar Park," based on the Bret Easton Ellis novel and to be directed by Phil Alden Robinson; and "The Golden Suicides," based on the Vanity Fair article about Jeremy Blake and Theresa Duncan.

Faith Hill and Emmylou Harris performed for President Barack Obama at the White House Wednesday during the ceremony for Paul McCartney's reception of the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song.

After Obama presented the award to McCartney, the performances began and Hill took the stage to perform the Beatles' "The Long and Winding Road" for the audience, which included Obama's daughters, Sasha and Malia. Harris performed a version of "For No One" from the Beatles' 1966 classic, Revolver.

Other performers at the ceremony included Stevie Wonder, Dave Grohl, Jack White, Elvis Costello, the Jonas Brothers, Corinne Bailey Rae, Herbie Hancock and McCartney himself.

Past recipients of the Gershwin Prize include Wonder and Paul Simon.

CONTAGION With Matt Damon and Kate Winslet To Be in 3-D

The movie CONTAGION starring Matt Damon and Kate Winslet will be filmed in 3-D, announces Access Hollywood. Steven Soderbergh will direct the Warner Brothers film. This will be the first time Matt Damon will act in a 3-D feature.

With a title like “Contagion“, it’s not surprising that the movie is about a contagious disease. A group of doctors from all over the world come together to try to stop it from spreading. The screenplay is being written by Scott Z. Burns.

This newest entry into the post “Avatar” 3-D rush has loads of star power. Gwyneth Paltrow will play Beth Emhoff who is married to Matt Damon (Thomas Emhoff). Kate Winslet will portray Dr. Erin Mears, one of the physicians looking for a cure. She’ll have help from Marion Cotillard (Dr. Leonora Orantes) and Laurence Fishburne (Dr. Ellis Cheever). Jude Law plays blogger Alan Krumwiede. His reporting the news, true or not adds to the drama.

Filming for “Contagion” should begin late this year. Release date is set for October 21, 2011.
